  • Running Hot

My 99 is starting to run a little hotter than normal, around 225. Do I need to replace the thermostat if it's only 2 years old? If it does need replacing, can I use a 160 or 180 thermostat if I've made very few mods? Should I flush the radiator and refill it with a coolant suited for warmer weather? I live in Houston so it will only get hotter. I appreciate any help with this.

    Re: Running Hot

    check your coolant level.

you can replace the thermo if you want but just get the factory one. it will not make your car run cooler getting a lower temp. flush it if you like. probably have some sludge going on anyways. there isn't a coolant for warmer weather, just different mixes of coolant and water. Something no one needs to worry about in Houston. Just get dexcool and half it with water
