ok, I've got a question, is there any difference between a thermostat from autozone, and hypertech's powerstat 160?

Thunderracing and SLP both sell a thermostat that will fit, its ~$10-15 and is Model 1009 IIRC.

                http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...TNUMBER=100160

Thats the 160 which will fit.

If you have a 2001-2002 model you need a resistor to make it work without throwing a code, its an easy mod and I can send you one if you need it. Otherwise just order the stat and swapo/chango.

Might I also recommend buying from thunderracing first since they're the board sponsor?

Is that resistor mod necessary with the Hypertech programer? And - "Here is a quick and easy way to gain up to 10 horsepower" whats up with this? I think there being a little optimistic.

I ordered my Hypertech 160º at Autozone for my 3.8

Takes like 2 days to get it, and like 10 minutes to install it.. not too shabby.

The guy at Autozone said that a 160 TSAT will throw off the codes ???? So I bought a 180, I have a 96-3.8. Is it okay if I go ahead and replace it with the 160? Will I have any coding problems?

I've had a 160 in my 99 3.8 for a couple years (except on the winter) and have never thrown any kind of code with it, I'm sure you'll be fine.

                          depends on the year

I know my car w/ a 160 will throw codes w/ out a resistor mod to make the car thinks its 10 deg outside.

anyone know if this will happen on a 96 without a resistor mod, and how much wolld that mod run?
