  • Clinking sound, ?cat? (vid)

The rattling that you can hear in the video seems to be coming from under the car, about where the cat is located, it was doing it around 6-800 rpms before, then slowly moved up the rpm range, then went away. Well it's back now and i'm trying to get an idea what it is. I don't know what a bad cat sounds like, so i'm only guessing it's the cat.

Forgive the impressive quality of the videos my phone takes..

I would think that would be your rear suspension, creeking springs or something. If it is in fact your hatch though, the berger panel seems to be the thing that rattles the most in the back of the car, but i've never heard of it creeking around turns only..

I couldn't tell from your video, but I had a clanking sound and it turned out to be my cat. The shield came lose or something, and then I replaced the cat and never get the sound anymore. All I heard in the video was your motor though.

My car makes that sound when my bass hits. I think its my passenger side hatch strut, but it really doesn't bother me because I don't hear it often.

I would like to add that it isn't consistant. Like i said, it was at about 6-800, then it was 8-1200, then only about 2000, then went away completely. It was back at 7-1100 in that video, and i just went to take another clip, but it wasn't there at all.

any weird smell from your cat? Get under the car and hit the cat with a hammer and see if you hear anything rattling in it. It could be time for a new cat
