i have a 94 camaro 3.4 v-6 -when i mash into the gas she stutters and shakes and sounds as if shes misfiring-but as long as im light on the pedal shes fine and will run perfect.think its the tps?? what are the symtoms of a TPS going bad?
I'm not too sure. What I do know is that when my MAF went bad, no matter how soft or hard I pushed the pedal, it would stutter. BUT only in the upper RPMs. I could keep it around 2K and shift (5-speed) and I could usually drive it just fine. It also stalled out alot when my MAF was bad, so I'm gonna take a leap here and say it's not your MAF.
Also, when is the last time you had a tune up? i find it funny that it doesn't miss in first gear, but whenever you are driving it and start to get into high rpm's it starts to sputter. At first thought I would say you are having a misfire, or maybe a bad coil.
But then I think about when I've had the problem of when I would get on a car and it gets to high rpm's it would start to sputter and it turned out to be a vacuum leak. So check all those lines as well. Also, depending on how many miles the car has on it, and if you are anywhere near a spark plug change, I would sea-foam the heck out of it. It can't hurt to try.
its had a tune up since last summer, i replaced the map that didnt fix it so i got my money back on it,im thinking its the MAF and im wondering how long it takes for k&n cleaner to ruin it cuz i did that 1 time recently and a couple months later this happens so...replace it or clean it? i'll have the money for it if need be...and yeah it usaully only does it at higher rpm's but lately its been doin it on idle now and in reverse and rarely low rpm's.
MAF was the problem, the thing was literally weaker then a sand statue part of the female connector was broken and could pull it off the teeth of it and when i messed with the teeth they just fell/broke off i barely touched them! it ended up costing me 171$ but hey thats way cheaper then 300$ that a gm dealer wanted to charge me
just for the record 3.4's dont have a maf. you can check the tps with a volt meter just hook it up inline with the signal lead and slowly sweep from closed to full open any places with no reading will be a bad spot

i have the same problem. its not my maf sensor. dont know what it is
sounds something like what my car was doing a long time back. I basically replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires, and everything and a basic tune-up and finally it threw out the codes that it had a "random cylinder miss-fire" and i finally got someone to find the problem and i had a bad coil pack. It was fine when the car was running but when i tried to accelerate it would just start misssing. Dunno if that helps any.
