yeah it could throw a code it would be hard for the system to detect a bad map though. i cant say thats "is" the problem but if it where my vehicle thats what id be looking at.
just did that and yes a code came up heres what it said "pcm has determined that the maf input is lower than expected for current engine operating conditions" code p0102 and another code i havnt seen is p1460 says "wide open throttle a/c cutoff relay circuit"
I had the same problems. Changed my MAF and all was good. Of course, the MAF isn't a cheap part :( . But, if you have a K&N, over oiling it will cause your MAF to misread and possibly ruin it. I've heard you can clean the MAF with carb cleaner and it'll still work. I"m not 100% on that though, so.........
And auto666, you're such a post whore :) . That's ok though, I'm partly one.
there is something that i know i have seen at napa, but havent looked elsewhere for called MAF cleaner, probably better than carb cleaner, just a thought
ive aways used no chlorinated brake clean carb clean works to make sure the key is out of the ignition when you do it and let it dry 10 minutes before you even put the key in the run position
radracer thank you i try
Also, when is the last time you had a tune up? i find it funny that it doesn't miss in first gear, but whenever you are driving it and start to get into high rpm's it starts to sputter. At first thought I would say you are having a misfire, or maybe a bad coil.
But then I think about when I've had the problem of when I would get on a car and it gets to high rpm's it would start to sputter and it turned out to be a vacuum leak. So check all those lines as well. Also, depending on how many miles the car has on it, and if you are anywhere near a spark plug change, I would sea-foam the heck out of it. It can't hurt to try.
i have a 94 camaro 3.4 v-6 -when i mash into the gas she stutters and shakes and sounds as if shes misfiring-but as long as im light on the pedal shes fine and will run perfect.think its the tps?? what are the symtoms of a TPS going bad?
