wow.... this is talking about problems at the PCM connection or in the wiring harness. should I dish out the cash for a new sensor and give that a try, or do I take it to someone else and let them sort it out.... or do I clear the code and swap the whole damn car for a GT a few years newer. :(

We also have seen this code on alot of cars with aftermarket headers..particularly cars in colder climates. When you move the sensor further away from the exhaust port, by the time the exhaust gas gets to the sensor to help warm it up, it is cooler. It in turn takes a bit longer for the sensor to get up to its operating temperature, and it throws a code thinking the heater in the sensor is not working properly. Also, this is the code when the heater on the sensor plain old stops working:) Will it ever come back on after you've cleared the code and the car is at full temp?
The problem will likely be fixed by simply replacing the sensor.

Thats what I was wondering Matt.... but the link posted above started talking about trouble shooting the wiring harness and connections, which scared the hell out of me.
Before the tune, after deleting the code with the hand held scan tool, it would come back on more and more frequently until I would have to reset it like every day.
After the tuned PCM went in, didnt throw a code for well over the 200 mile rule of thumb, so I thought it was solved.
I'll try just replacing the sensor. Do you know if that would be an emissions failing code if a sensor doesnt get rid of it?

I'm not the expert on what passes and fails by any means, as we do not have any testing here, but I could definitely see it failing because of that code. I would guess that a new sensor will take care of it though:)

they mark it for destruction just like a rabid dog. j/k.
Its just like failing inspection. you dont get your new sticker, and once your expired your illegal on the road. the real ***** in PA (and Im sure other states) is the emissions testing computer at each of the inspection stations is linked into the main DOT computer in Harrisburg, so the powers that be know when you fail... so you cant just slip a little extra cash for the sticker or visit your buddy who owns a shop.
