What kind of "crap" are you interested in? If you want to know options and things of that nature there are places to decode it. http://www.analogx.com/contents/vinview.htm will give you basic information, but a model specific site is probably best for detailed information. If you want vehicle history, www.carfax.com will cost you $20 for it.
Google should get you whatever you want.
