Re: Cost for these mod installs?

easiest things realistically replaced are the plug wires and the crank pulley. thermostat comes next. fortunately you dont have to bleed the cooling system on a 3.4.
plugs are a pita especially if you dont have the tools, no need for a lift though.
exhaust stuff isnt too bad if you have the ability to weld.
if you were local id be more than happy to do that stuff for 5 bills. its all cakework.
    foggy headlights? wetsand... buff... WAX!!!
if nissan motorsports is nismo does that mean honda motorsports is homo?

You know Buffalo's lovely in the spring....

Obviously I won't do the plug wires until I put in the new plugs themselves, but in regards to the crankshaft pulley.... i have my car currently jacked up in the front (just finished the K&N CAI install) is that the easiest way to put it on?...since its right on the bottom.... also what exactly do you do?... relieve the belt then take the bolts off the old one and replace it with the same bolts?

if you are only doing your crank pulley then your belt tensioner should make up for the slack if ur lucky but usually people can keep the stock belt

so does that mean i will have to tighten it once the new pulley is on?

Re: Cost for these mod installs?

no, hes saying that once you put your belt back on, your gonna have to pull back your tensioner pulley, and most likly it will pull back enough where you can put on your belt and then let it go and it still be nice and firm.

if not you will need a new belt, which even that wont be a big deal.

there should be a diagram on your engine telling you what each pulley is. also... make sure the tread on the bolt isnt reversed... i just snapped my tensioner pulley because i loosened it thinking it was normal, but it was reversed treat. a huge pain in the ***... so just make sure you do it right. it shouldnt be reversed though.

just looked and see that the tensioner pulley is the bottom left... how exactly does that thing move? am i supposed to loosten it or push it down or what? it wont budge

Re: Cost for these mod installs?

well its a reversed thread bolt, so just put on a socket, and pull to the left and it wont loosen, instead it will pull the pulley towards that direction...

so actually pull on it? not turn the bolt itself?... my haynes manual says turn it clockwise... does that make sense? Any idea what size sockets i will need for the job? thanx

quick update... doin the thermostat tomorrow to save a cupple bux..then we'll go from there...operation SAVE ME MONEY

tensioner should be very easy, just give it a go, i dont know what size socket, just pick a few and try each till ya get one to fix

Re: Cost for these mod installs?

WOW... just put the thermostat on...holy ****.. i don't care what people say.... putting a thermostat in a 3.4 sucks balls... supposedly its a 15 minute job...took me 2 hours and 15... anyhow

                                1. The bolts were frozen like the north pole
                                2. the second bolt is near say IMPOSSIBLE to reach (even with my double jointed wrench)
                                3. The thermostat stuck in the housing until i tapped it out (at this point coolant is gushing out of the gaping hole)

                                4. Once again while reinstalling the bolts the second one was incredibly difficult to tighten...let alone fit in the hole! ... with luck somehow i got it to fall in (you've got like 1 inch space to work with!)

                                5. I didn't tighten the bolts enough and it started leaking like crazy when i started my car

                                6. When i finally got the bolts tight enough so it would stop leaking, the leaked out coolant started to boil on my engine.

                                7. My hands are shreaded and god only knows if the coolant will leak again when i add some (i think i'm down to almost zero coolant because of all that leaked out)

Besides that it wasn't too bad... listened to music and ate hot pockets ... yum
