Well, a few weeks ago my "Check gages" light started coming on and my temperature gauge was starting to go into the orange. This would happen randomly while driving it. At random times, it would slowly rise into the orange, stay there for about 10 seconds, then go back down to normal. It didn't do it when it was in park though, it stayed at normal. My car needed an oil change, so I took it to get it changed, and also told the guys to fill up my antifreeze if I needed it. When they got done, they told me I was running very low on antifreeze. So I took it for a 20 mile drive on the highway and the temperature gauge wasn't going into the orange and the "check gages" light wasn't coming on. Anyway, I thought that solved the problem. The next day, it started doing it again. Do you guys know what the causes for this are? I'm hoping it's just a bad sensor.

Have you checked to see if you are losing coolant? Considering that immediately after it was topped off the problem went away, that leads to believe sensors and thermo are working properly.

Your "check Gauges" light is designed to illuminate when one of your gauges reads out of the normal range. So, your "check gauges" light is working as it should.
Now, for the coolant temperature problem you need to narrow it down. Is it losing coolant? How often to you need to fill it up? This could be many things, but if you are losing coolant you need to start there.

Check your head gasket. I wrestled with this problem for a week, losing coolant and it drove me nuts cuz I couldn't figure out where the hell it was going. Turned out that it was all pooling in Cylinder 5........Sometimes I moonlight as a kitten.

Re: "Check Gages" light and temperature guage...
Alright, my car is being weird. The day before yesterday, I filled up my radiator with coolant. Yesterday, the only place I drove it was down the street to the gas station. This morning at about 9am, I looked inside of it and it was about 4 inches low from the top. I haven't driven it at all today, but I decided to go look at it again 15 minutes ago, and it was at the top. WTF.1995 Bluish green 3.4l Camaro.
Bone stock right now lol!
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2042355

Re: "Check Gages" light and temperature guage...
Ok update! I went outside to the car and started it. I revved the engine up to about 2000rpm and waited until it got just above the 3rd white mark on the temperature guage. I opened the hood and looked at the fan next to the radiator and it wasn't spinning. So I guess I need a new fan. Hopefully, the engine hasn't been damaged.1995 Bluish green 3.4l Camaro.
Bone stock right now lol!
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2042355
