  • new engine..what to do?

i have a 95 firebird 3.4 v6 with 000012 miles due to some insurance problems and now he is ready to go and i have about $2.000 to get the most horsepower i can out of that money... does any1 can help me telling me what to get??

Might want to look at the www.supersixmotorsports.com power pack. It's a cam, ported heads and intake package. I've heard it should add 60-80hp, but the new dyno results havn't come in yet. Also you can do computer, pullys, CAI, and exhaust. That's all I can think of right now without going on the bottle or forced induction.

lol, I read that the first time, and I thought, two dollars? What the hell can you buy for 2 dollars? A little more than a gallon of gas? Thats about all the Horse power you'd get for 2 bucks... hehe.

2 Grand on the other hand. Thats a different story. You could do quite a bit with that kinda cash. I guess the first thing to ask is, what mods do you already have done? You might want to start with the Basics (Intake, Exhaust, ect) and then see what you have for money when you get done with the basic things.

ok... no mods made at all in the car... lets say the car just got out of the dealer... (thats how it looks like , with a brand new engine and everything a new car has. ) i'll probably use a piece of that 2 grand to put some N2O.. now i dont know what the safety devices i have to get so i dont blow my new engine off... probably go for a 85hp shot on a NOS 5175 kit .. but what about the rest of the money... where would i put on to get more power on that baby...?

3.4?? you will prolly want to stick to nawwwwwzzzz.

              does SSM work on 3.4s?

2 gs isnt a lot of money, but it will surely take care of a full intake and exhaust setup and some monster gears. heack yeah that is what i would do: intake, headers, cat, full catback, and some 4.10s with posi :D there you go 2 gs well spent
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

see... the thing is that i dont wanna change the engine ...
1- because its a v6 but a new engine that will give me no headache at all...
2- the car is all the way in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. and it will cost quite a bit to send one LT1 by ship to brazil...
well ppl are telling me to do intake , catback , ignition , power programmer 3 , and N2O ... but how much horsepower can i get out of that..? would it be good at all? ...

ok nino... nice *** thinking... but how much horsepower would i be able to get out of that... i heard that would be great to do the gears for my engine.... and by the way... is not gonna be enough money left for the N2O right... :/

How the hell do you spend that much on that little mods? For me...

                        Intake - 190
                        Headers - 275-300
Cat - 30 (bought mine slightly used)
                        Catback - 270 (w/ tips)
                        3.73 full rear end - 300

That's just barely tipping 1,000. With 2,000 I'd do all of those plus some nitrous. That is if you don't want to replace the heads/cam which desperately need replacing!

whatever you do you will not get a lot of horsepower out of it.
engines are like muscles: the more you do with what god gave you, the more god will give you to do it with.

now for me, it was a little different cause i have a 3.8 but this is how it went.
ftra=over $100 i dont remember and i dont feel like looking for reiepts
                          airlid+K&N= around $200
i wont include or mention the price for the power pack
headers= my cia kist for what?$700? but i got mine for $400 +$150 to install i guess the 3.4s are cheaper
catbacks= i dont know but i paid $250 for muffler and tips then pain another $80 for stainless steel tips cause i didnt know better the first time
i then got my i pipe and high flow cat put on for another $220
lsd= $99 for the slp take off and cost me $200 for the install at a chevy dealership
4.10s=$200 and my gears cost another $150 to instal those

hell, i dont know how much everything costs. i figure if you have to worry about price you should skip it all together.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Yeha you can spend 2 grand on mods...but are you going to be installing everything? If you do spend a grand on say intake, headers full catback, gears...it is going to cost you sum there too!
