  • Calling Eric AKA "DASBOOT" .. Wire heat sheating ...

I wanted to email you but you didn't had your email entered in the system..........i am changing my plugs and wires this week .....so, i have decided to get (from www.ftpp.net

    1. MSD-32799: MSD 8.5mm SuperConductor Wires - 3.8L V6Plug-End Boot Style: 90° $60.50 (90° or multi angle??)

    2. NGK-TR55 NGK NGK V-power Spark Plug $2.24

now, i remember seeing an old thread where you mentioned that you bought some heat sheating for the wires from Summit for 25-26ish dollars........after reading that cz28.com misfire thread, i deff want to protect my wires and stop getting misfire codes ........ do you remember the summit part no. ? or can send me a link of that item in other site? ..........i just don't feel like spending $60 on heat shielding from ftpp ..........thanks ............btw, have i made the right choice with the plugs and wires? ........should i get 90* or multi angle? ......

    :)

mine aren't 90* boots but not sure of if it would make a difference.

I have a '00 so remember my exhaust manifolds are different.

As for what I used it was some generic heat sheething from summit. came in a 6' roll I cut 1 foot for each wire. I also used the orginal heat shields with them. I did a quick search not seeing my normal stuff, but there are other things on their. Just some heat sheathing, or even the boot protectors.

I got MSD wires, they still fire strong and I have had them on for 40k miles.

As for the plugs, imo plugs are plugs... I have been running autolites but have had NGKs and no real difference.

all you need are the boot protectors, don't worry about that heat shielding wrap stuff.

Re: Calling Eric AKA "DASBOOT" .. Wire heat sheating ...

OMG.....i couldn't believe it ........ i was throwing cyl 6 misfire code intermittently for couple months now ...... i ordered all the parts (plugs, wires, heat shields) as part of my tune up .......... just to make sure whats causing my cylinder 6 misfire, i raise the car ........... i start checking all the wires .......when i came to no. 6 , as i am gonna touch the wire to check if it's loose, it falls into my hand!!! ........... the heat had melted (dematerialized) the rubber ............ i've been driving on 5 cyl for i don't know how long ......... please note that i have changed the wires less than 8 months ago (15k miles/mostly highway driving) and yet they go bad! .......... the heat in those area is unbelievable .........so, anyone who's throwing misfire codes and you're overlooking your plugs and wires , please check em before you start changing coil packs, injectors, etc ........... i also checked that my current wires are only 7 mm where the new msd will be 8.5 :) ........boy i can't wait to install em .........

yep that will make a bit of a difference... and the heat sheathing will definitely be helping.
