  • Did any of the 4th gens come with a yoke W/out a damper?

I noticed my car has a small damper on the yoke coming out of the tranny. And after searing around apparently that's like most of em'.

My question is did any of the 4th gens come W/out a damper on the yoke?

    Thanks guys!
Again sorry about the goofy questions. There really is a good reason ;)

yes, LT1 cars came without it, the damper as added to prevent a problem with vibration above 100mph

I have an LT1 car and it has one.

I wonder if, the aluminum replacements per the TSB were damper less?

perhaps they fixed it during the LT1 years

          Fixed it?

          I'm looking for a yoke W/out a damper.
Since there are NO salvage yards around me with 4th gens I'm outta luck as far as checking myself.

I don't care about vibration. I just want the lightests possible drive shaft. But the catch is it has to be a GM part and as installed on a 4th gen F-body.

This car is an autocross car with a specific set of rules which is why I've been asking un-usual questions since I signed up.

ok looked at my parts catalog, it shows that in 93 the DS had no damper, calls this the "first design" in 94 they wentto one with a damper calls this the "second design"

they appear to have the same part number, can't quite tell because my catalog is a scanned pdf and it wasn't scanned real well so some of the numbers are blurred, anyway hope that answers your question

So your rules will not allow a driveshaft part from a third gen f-body? It would be GM. I think none of the third gen's had the yoke.
