  • v6 to v8 conversion

Hello, wasnt sure where to put this thread, and searched for a similiar thread, couldnt find one. I was just curious, for anyone who has done or knows someone, how much did it end up costing to do the conversion?

    Re: v6 to v8 conversion

They haven't made Z28's in over 5 years, so used.

    Engine
    Transmission
    Wiring Harness
Engine Accessories (alternator, ps system, mounts, exhaust etc)
    LS1 K member
    LS1 front springs
    Fuel system upgrades

Since the '98's wiring harness is different from the '99-'02 Fbodies, you'll need a '98 engine and trans to save you some trouble. Although it would still be a pita and take a while to do.

You're better off selling your car and buying a TA/Z28 rather than swapping the engine in.

Actually, they get 28mpg on they highway, dont they?

To the OP, check this site out:

          www.v6conversion.com

And unless you get the motor/trans for free, you will end up spending more on a swap then selling your car and buying a Z or T/A (or Fomula).

Yeah, but on the upside, you still get insurance for a v6. ;)

If it gets totalled, then your only getting money for a v6 too....

Guys, lets leave the gas talks and stuff for the lounge, not here. He doesn't want info on that stuff, only on doing the swap.

you would need to find the engine/pcm/kmember/trans/wiring harness/radiator and some other little things to make it work. Best bet is to find a totalled z28 donor car and swap everything from that to your v6.
