hmm...well a few days ago i removed my battery to work on my coolant system and make a better battery mount. i have pics i just posted, but getting back to the subject. When i did this i forgot to tighten the positve side of the battery. It was only on hand tight and started fine the first time it started it, but after i drove it around some and got back home i shut it off and it would do the same thing you are saying. I could hear the started barly click, then radio and everything else would lose power untill i let go of the key. Id recommed you check to make sure you have no corrosion on your battery connections, use an acid tester to make sure all cells are good, and check to see it the connections are tight, not to tight, but nice and snug.

A loose connection to battery could possibly do it, like bobby said. I don't know why the break would have any effect on it making a secure connection to the battery, but that's always a possibility. Check, just to make sure.

I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
