whenever my car is running, i hear some sort of noise coming from the rear which is really weird but the best i can describe it as is a higher pitched hissing noise. i first noticed it from the inside, but i went outside of my car and it sounds almost like its coming from the muffler or somewhere in that area, and the noise is louder from the outside. has anyone else experienced this and know what it is? cuz its really annoying...

no its not whistler tips it definitely sounds like something that is not supposed to be there...its hard to describe the noise it sounds more like air coming out combined with that high pitched noise that some computer monitors make when they break if that makes any sense at all...i believe its too loud for it to be the fuel pump i can hear it when im driving as well if the music is down1995 3.4l dark green camaro
stock...for now

its the fuel pump.. i can almost guarentee it
edit* my impala does it, and it is loud as hell. You can hear it with the heat up full blast.
The sound you are describing does sound exactly like my impalas fuel pump. If you wiggle your fuel lines around, or just feel them, i bet you can feel the vibrations, and get the sound to stop a little.

I had one coming from the back and it was from my electronic wiring. If the "hissing" sounds he mentioned sounds more like air blowing out then nevermindhttp://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/437104 96 Firebird M5

Yea if I remember right I was able to hear it both with the battery on and with the engine on. Your first post reminded me of my problem because it came from the hatch area too but the fuel pump suggestion sounds the most likelyhttp://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/437104 96 Firebird M5
