  • SES light goes on and off

it seems like my SES light comes on even more than it did before. before it would come on and either stay on or go off after a while. now it comes on for like 30 seconds then goes off then comes back on at random times. can a bad transmission cause the SES light to come on????

I know you can pick up an OBD II scanner for about 100 bucks and it will tell you the code.
unless you know someone with one, simple to use
    and it works great

Is your car running ok when the SES light comes on? Sounds maybe like a misfire. How old are you plugs/wires?

Unfortunately if he has a 94', he is going to need a obd1 scanner with a obd2 connection, thats a little bit harder to find.
When is you're light turning on?

i changed the plugs and wires and 02 sensors over the summer time. the car seems to run fine when the light is on or off. my automatic transmission has 195,*** miles on it and it does shift funny between 1st and 2nd gear sometimes(could that throw a code). the engine has about 120,000 on it. the light always goes off when i get on the highway and once i get off it comes back on and off randomly.

mine does the same thing, (comes on while getting off the highway) i had my code pulled, it sayed EGR selinoid/#1#2#3, just go to the parts store that has a scanner for your year and make, its free, and then you will know whats going on.
i went to advanced auto parts.

I had the same problem with 97 camaro, pretty much same symptoms... had it scanned at autozone and it was a misfire. Since you just changed plugs/wires, I'm not sure. Pre 96 had OBD-I, right? You might check around for places that could scan it.

                Good luck.
