Ok, each time you start the engine up, I assume timing is reset, right?

The reason I ask is when I start up my car it's smooth first 5-10 mins, then it becomes sluggish. I suspect I have occasional miss or weak spark on one of the cylinders, which causes spark retard. I was stupid and when my coil went out I put cheapest **** around with cheapest plugs wires, which arc badly in humid weather.

do you have someone near by that can scan your car with autotap or something? just to see what's going on with misses/kr etc.

Do you think its happening when the car goes into closed loop operation? If so, perhaps O2 sensors.

Change wires to a reputable brand ,like MSD super conductor or similar, you should'nt get arcing from them.To test to see if knock sensors are working properly ,take a small metal rod & as safely as you can with eng running ,rap them steadily to see if eng. speed changes. If it does they're working properly.

yeh which wires are good? I was thinkin accell 9000 or MSD or taylors... they're all pretty pricey, though... but I've read somewhere that the wires I got are probably the worst you can buy for your money. They have higher than stock resistance I believe.

Basically my dad told me after all this is that you can't try and save money on ignition, fuel system, brakes and suspension.
