When my car is in medium to high load at any gear my car shudders until i down shift [and back off the throttle] or let up on the throttle. I've done some research on this and the consences seems to be that type of problem is an electrical issue - the coil.

Mine does not occur at all times of medium to high load. Which leads me to believe that it may not be electrical. Since as an electrical component deteriorates the frequency of the problem increases. Any ideas, i've got one but i'm really not liking my guess? I have a 98 M5 3800 with 98k on the clock and no engine modifications or upgrades. All i've done is replaced 2 coils and the thermostat.

i'll give those easy things a try [wires/coil/plugs/fuel filter]. I was hoping it would be the case. Doesn't sound like a potential clutch issue?
