• Engine Oil and Tranny Oil Cooler-- same thing?

Need to land an engine oil cooler for my TT setup, I've found quite a few cheap ones but they are all "tranny" coolers... so I'm wondering if I can use that for the engine oil.

I would THINK that I could but I wanted to check to see if anyone knows for a fact.

Thanks
Sam

I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that if they make them for seperate jobs then you shouldn't have one doing the other. I see plenty of cheap "engine oil coolers" in JC Whitney mags all the time. ;)

An oil cooler, like the factory KC4 cooler found on some 93 and 94 T/As and Z28s, is a pancake water-to-oil cooler, and fits on the block on top of the oil filter. Coolant flows through the cooler in contact with the block mating surface. It is not a typical finned-radiator type cooler like a transmission cooler.

They are two totally different animals.
