sounds like suspension problem. Maybe brakes or something. Just go have it checked out. I think advance can hook it up and find the codes.

Does the trac and anti lock lights come on when you start it without even driving? If so I would think that you maybe have a connection disconnected on a speed sensor or wheel bearing, or something like that. I would go get that code scanned but I would also climb under there and look for something to be disconnected. Be careful and good luck.

I'd guess that one of your snesors have just crapped out and you will have to take it to dealer to figure out which one exactly or else it will be a crap shoot on guessing which one.

can a bad speed sensor cause this problem? according to the haynes manual, a bed speed sensor can cause driveability problems whatever that means

I don't know if it can cause it on an Alero but it can cause that problem on an Aztek. So I would Guess that it can but can't say for sure.
