So, my check engine light keeps coming on after I've been cruising for a few minutes...I believe it may have to do with the tranny, but I can not be sure. I've got 124xxx on the tranny and 7xxx on the motor, so it seems more then likely it'd be the tranny...

Where are the sensers that control the check engine light?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. The sensors that trigger the check engine light are all over the engine and trans, if one of them fails or detects a problem the light trips. Best thing you can do is get it scanned.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

I tried that about a year ago the last time I owned the car (just bought her back last week). They couldnt pull them...I guess I'll roll up the Advance Auto and see if they can. The tranny shop I went to last year couldnt, but we'll see.

It is amazing indeed that folks who profess to be auto tech specialists cannot pull codes from OBDII.
But there you have it. This goes on everywhere...

Well, I will be also. Almost home from the swap shop with the used engine, I stopped off to see the dude who'd do my MD St Ins (it passed, btw! ). Got back in the car, took off the last 2 miles to my house, wound it thru 3 gears, slowed for a corner, and the ck eng lite goes on. Stayed on last night when I tested my new dual halos, also. Do Chevys reset ck engine if you disconnect the battery for a bit?
Tks for the egr solenoid tip, too. My 98 is OBDII, correct? If so I'll use AutoZones... Man that shakedown cruise up the back roads was *****in! These cars can really outrun their stock tyres...
A little backfire on decel from the Borla I dont recall, but it starts right up and revs great, but there is a slight miss at idle. This motor is from a 98, has 72k on it, and has the original OEM Delphi alternator.
