All GM cars for years have had those. They are mainly used for when you take it to the shop and you have a check engine light on they can plug in a little had heald computer called "Tech 1" or "Tech 2" depending on the year of the car and see want code is in the system and they can fix what is wrong. I think the "Tech 2 is for cars from 96 up. :DComment
