So just got back from our trip and it was HOT as hell. The A/C blows air but its not cold. Do you think I just need to refill it. I've never done that and was looking at the kits at autozone. Just wondering if that is my problem and can anyone tell me how to do it. I hope its not the compressor.

Re: A/C problem
just because it doesn't blow cold doesn't mean just the problem with freon. Chances are, if you recharge it with the freon, it will blow cold, but there is no gaurentee on how long. That's why i asked how it was before, if it was slowly getting warmer, or if it was quick, or if it never worked.
Don't take it to a shop if it's just freon, get a recharge kit for under $20 and do it yourself.

96 bucks for FREON???? I'm gonna try the kit, but what do you have to do. Hook it up and refill it with a bottle or what? And what do you hook it up to?

Re: A/C problem
sounds like a blown seal on the compressor, thats what i had... better off buying a new compressor. install it yourself too, its a HUGE pain in the ***, meaning even for a mechanic so the labor fee will probly kill u.

Re: A/C problem
Well, if it was cold before, you might want to take the chance with a freon recharge kit. you just hook it up to the tank with the kit and let it charge, pretty simple.
Sounds like it might be more serious, but a recharge is cheap, and can't hurt. it will tell you if your problem is bigger too.
