I have a question. Is using 15W-50 in our engines bad with 50K? I am having an argument with my Dad on how it is bad for my motor. He seems to think it's ok because we live in Florida. I was told by one of my friends that using that heavy of an oil is bad and would oil starve some of my bearings and cause premature wear on the motor.
Edit: If you can, explain why its bad, so I can present my Dad with facts on why it is.

I know people who use 50w in their race engines. Of course these race engines are not designed to last for 12 years or 120,000 miles. Wow...50w in an engine designed for 5w-30 or 10w-30.
I have 103,000 miles on my 95 and still use 5w-30.
50w...wow.
Lets see what everyone else thinks
must be nice to have that high compression level, too bad your gonna last only a few more thousand miles before you get to rebuild her I only use Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30

I use 20-50 in my car, only because my dad tells me to buy it.
He's been a mechanic his whole life, smartest man I know when it comes to cars so I trust what he says.
