How far does censorship or freedom of speech go in these boards? I rather ask now than to create an inflammatory post by accident that ignites another 99 replies. I've seen several since my inception here in Dec '04.
I think most posts or replies are taken out of context and then it gets out of control.
Anyways, back to the red button drama...

Not acceptable either - you've been warned. </font>[/QUOTE]I know I stepped over the line a bit but the guy was a jerk. I asked a simple question and no one else saw any reason to call me an idiot or wish me dead.
This guy has posted several questions way more stupid than mine.
These are just the idiotic posts on the first page of search results when searching for his posts. Yet I'm an idiot for asking about an unlabeled button. Oh the irony.
To everyone else here, you have all been very helpful in this and my other posts. I appreciate that. So far this joecool guy has been the only one I've seen causing trouble. If the moderators can keep him under control this could be a decent place.
Sorry about the outbursts. I just get a bit irritated when someone with less knowledge of a subject than I have calls me an idiot and wishes me dead.
It is a standard momentary micro switch. For sure it is part of the alarm. I have the same one. Take off the panel covering the steering column at your knees and you will most likely see the switch is wired to an alarm system control box (the brain of the alarm) If you find out the brand, you should be able to buy and aftermarket compatible remote.
If it isnt connected to the box, it may be wired into your ignition system as a type of secret system to keep the car from starting unless you push the button. Obviously, it isnt enabled as the car starts.
Option 3....call the previous owner or dealer and see if they know. Chances are, if you did buy it from a dealer, they bought the car from an auction and have no idea if the car had an alarm or not.
The panel above you knees has two screws. Just take it off and check the wires.
Wow! Thats all I can say. I agree. We need a poll. This is teh funniest thread I have ever read. All over a button. remindes me of what Disney's Pumba does when he sees something shiney. Just sits and glorifies it. :D -Tim
i once had to put a new alarm in a friends car and had some fun with her. her bottom dash already had all these empty holes drilled along the bottom of the dash panel (obiviously from someone who couldnt figure out how to make the wire reach the hole so they kept drilling until the button could be installed). i had extra momentary alarm buttons (the little red button, sometimes black), so i had one red, took two black ones and painted one green and one yellow with model paint, and installed the three buttons in the empty holes.
I new she'd eventually ask me what the different color buttons were for, and when that day came, i told her they would make the alarm emit a frequency to certain street lights to make them change accordingly! she said "really?" i said yes. let her think that for a week or so. she wasnt blonde, but i still wonder how many times she actually tried it. i eventually found a replacement dash panel for her car and swapped it for the one with the street light activations buttons on it!
BY THE WAY, how the heck did i end up VIEWING THIS THREAD thats over 6 months old anyways?? i certainly didnt do a search for "little red button." sorry to all if you guys see this on the first page of the tech forum and have to relive it all over again. what the heck was i searching for anyways?...........
oh, it was a "door lock" search that brought this thread to me. glad it did. i really enjoyed reading this thread too!!
SO, now i cant remember, did he ever push the button?? oh no, here it goes all over again.
and by the way, the story about the red, green and yellow buttons IS A TRUE STORY.
Vallentinerocks thank you for redeeming yourself and not showing extreme n00b qualities. I was gonna come in here to say something along the lines of "holy dead thread batman", but due to your sincere apology, i'll just make my post senseless.

Had to be evacuated Monday again after a fire was going on the hill behind us. Only 3-4 hours, they did a good job getting it under control. Especially...
