WTF speedo..

Been fine the 355 days i've had teh car, was fine this morning, but around 1 pm today i was behind a semi in a 35mph zone that seemed to be going a tad slow as cars around me were passing. I looked at my speedo and it said i was going about 13mph. Obviously bs, but i didn't think about it and sped up to about 27ish, when i started passing cars like crazy. At that point i realized my speedo had decided to commit suicide.

When i turn the car on, it no longer goes to the "MPH" (which i can't see anyway because i have different gauges) but instead continues to rest on the bottom. I went to a 55 zone and i was going with the flow of traffic and according to my speed i was going 30...

I didn't touch anything and i don't know what happened...

Could be a bad speed sensor in the tranny , but if thats not it then its in the cluster itself.

well i replaced the VSS. and it reads different, but it's all jumpy and stupid, and never right. always at least 15mph under the actual speed, though it varies how much. Please tell me there is something else i can check before i go out and buy a whole new cluster.

As for a Z28 cluster, i understand the RPMs will be way off, but what about the speedo? I can tune for the tach later on, but it doesn't matter now since i have an auto, but what about the speedo?
