Here's the deal. We removed the AC from Jenn's car a few months back but now because of the serpentine belt routing the tensioner faces backwards. How does the belt tensioner work on cars that came without AC? Is there a reverse one? Her car started throwing the belt last week, it jumps one tooth back on the alternator. Its happened twice now and it shredded the belt (picking up a new one this afternoon). Thanks!

Is there a reverse belt tensioner for 3.8's without AC?

Stefan I just responded to some other dude who had this problem, and I've thrown a belt once too (yes, !AC over here for my FI setup). Check the alignment of the alternator -- it might be out of plane with the rest of things.
Are you running a 615 or a 620 belt?97 Camaro 3.8L M5
Car for saleterpmotors.com Terrapin Motorsports! UMCP

I took the a/c off my car 2 years ago and I dont even use the tensioner anymore. I keep the belt tight with the alternator, and ive never thrown a belt. I did the same thing to 1998silverbird's car and i dont think he's thrown one either.96 3.8 red camaro.
headers,cam,valve springs,retainers,auburn lsd,3.73 gears,SLP cold air,accel coils,24lb injectors,8mm plug wires,air temp module,LT1 diveshaft,removed a/c,edelbrock torque arm,spohn LCA\'s and PHR
