  • Camaro rear hatch area squeaks driving me insane!

I have tried adjusting the rear hatch to where it is shutting tighter against the car, done, and it doesn't jiggle up and down anymore. Still, I have had this annoying squeak for quite a few months now and since I live on a dirt road, I know I am hard pressed at best to keep the annoying little noises from happening, but someone please gimme some help here, what is in the rear hatch area that is known to squeak when you hit bumps, stuff like that? And trust me, if I would have seen it myself already, I would not be here asking this question. I like my car, but I really am getting tired of driving it because I have to listen to the squeaking sounds!

    haha...

3 things cause rear hatch squeks...

-the hatch itself, adjust the bumpers, replace if tey are bad.(looks like you already took care of it)
-spare tire. remove the spare, put a rags around any part that is rubber in contact with metal. Make sure its not cockeyed when you tighten it down. And precaution wrap the jack to to avoid rattles
-Latch to the hatch,(black coating wears off) try wrapping it tightly in electrical tape

my guess its probably the spare... if its not put back just right it sqeuks and sometimes wen it is put back right it still squeks. Only noticeable in f-bodies because we have hatchbacks and you can hear noise coming from it.

Shenanigans is right, most of the time it's the spare squeeking against the inner well. I've also had a 95 that the latch let go a little, and the struts were bouncing, and they were squeeking every time I hit a bump, rock, clown, limb, etc.
