    Shop messed up my tranny. Need help fast!

    I got the vette servo installed and the transmission serviced (fluid and filter changed) and now the car has I really sluggish 1-2 shift. I mean it takes 3 seconds to shift. I can rev the engine while it's shifting. The 2-3 shift is really firm now but the rpms still jump between gears. :mad: I left the car overnight and I'm waiting for their call. I have never taken my car to a shop before except for a Valvoline 10 minute oil change and now I wish I never had! There I was stranded on the side of the road. The tranny shop was closeing too. Good thing a had a phone to call my parents to pick me up. Anyway, it seems to me the clutches are being enganged way to long and if anybody has any idea as to what the problem is please let me know. I need my car back.

    how many miles you got? It sounds like ur 3rd gear clutch is gone. Did it show any signs of this before going in?

    The shop will most likely fix it, otherwise you r looking at 4-500 bucks for a rebuild (thats how much it was on my Grand Am)

    Call those *******s back and if they give you **** get the BBB involved and anyone you can.

      the vette servo is supposed to strengthen your 1st-2nd shift that is really messed up, check around ur servo housing and see if you have any fluid leaking out of it, my servo cap came lose and wouldnt shift from 1st-2nd taht could be the problem if ur losing fluid through the servo housing....but it seems like a bigger problem then that...u did put a shift kit in right cuz that servo isnt supposed to firm up 2nd-3rd gear shifts....high revs between shifts can come from a slip in the torque converter also

        No, before I took it in it had a firm 1-2 shift and a so-so 2-3 shift. Everything was fine. I can't remember if there was 1 or 2 parts to the servo. But he got it all in there so surely there are no parts missing. Could a stock parts replace one of the vette servo parts? He just put in the servo. here is the servo:

          i believe i had more to my servo kit then that...let me check and find it

            actually it looks the same my servo appears a lil bigger but that could be due to the angle on yours....see but it supposed to firm 1st to 2nd

            and my vette servo replaced my orignial servo there were a few things in the servo housing that were still used just not hte original servo that looks almost identical to that vette servo

              He had both pieces. I remember now because he compared them for me. Any ideas as to why the 2-3 shift is firmer, and believe me it was firmer. He also messed around with the tv cable. First he pulled it back and that didn't help then he moved it forward and I got worse. I really don't know what the TV cable does...

                Well, keep this simple before everyone goes saying its this part or that part. Obviously, you would have to look at what was just done to the trans. The service and the servo. If the servo was bad or installed wrong, that will mess up of all the shifts. There are 4 or so o-rings on that thing and if any of them leak, that would be your problem. I'm really surprised that the mechanic wouldn't of test drove the vehicle before he let you take it. I would never send a car out the door unless I knew I did the job right.

                  He did test drive it but he never got the rpms past 2k so you really couldn't tell anything was wrong. Plus he kept talking about how it needed to be broken in, air bubbles in tranny fluid, ect.. I took me about 8 seconds of driving before I turned around and went back. He test drove it again and let in shift around 4k and it reved to 5.1K or so then shifted. We took it back to the shop and I went on a hike. [img]graemlins/rant.gif[/img]

                    Well it's 1PM and he hasn't called yet. They say no news is good news but I've never believed that. How long should I give them? I really need my car by Thursday. Surely if they can't fix it in a day they can't fix it all unless they have to wait on parts. I'm afraid of them hot rodding my car too, short trips and the like. My tranny might be fixed but my engine my not run by the time this thing is over. [img]graemlins/rant.gif[/img] :mad: :mad: :mad: =

                      THEY FIXED IT They said they had to put the stock servo spring back in. I didn't give them a "corvette"spring so I don't know where that other spring come from but as long as it's works I'm happy. [img]smile.gif[/img]

                      EDIT: Just got back the 2-3 is still slightly firmer than the 1-2 shift. Overall I'm pleased. There's nothing like doing 70 and having you head snapped back against the seat when it shifts! I think the 1-2 shift is no better. It was probably shifting as hard as I could before since I already had the nuts in place of the accumulator spring. Now I'm trying to figure out what setting to put the detent/throttle valve cable on.
