  • belt removal?

    <stupidity>
    i just read that GMHTP article about the 3800 v6 and they mentioned removed the air filter and serpentine belt and then wound up dropping 2-3 tenths off their best.
    </stupidity>

    edit: meh, lemme re-word this, wouldn't that be a BAD thing to remove the belt?

    Uh, just look at the front of your engine...

    Not to be too technical, but the serpentine belt is this flat bendy black thingy with grooves on one side; you can see it moving when the engine is running. :D :rolleyes:
    I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

        yea...I had my belt fall off and I had to drive to the nearest gas station and my temp gauge was slammed into the red, and I was crusin' slow. I wouldn't want to think about runnin full throttle down a track with no water pump cooling my engine.

              anyone know how to measure a belt and relate it to its size? I am looking for AC, Pwersteering bypass.

                So is their a belt that anyone knows of that is small enough to just go over the crank, wp, and alt? so we can bypass the ac and power steering? I might be interested in trying this at the track :D
