Re: A/C recharge
I wanted to charge my A/C myself also. I got two cans of 134 and the hose, but how much do I put in, or how many cans. The car parts guy said two cans shoud do it? I don't have any other gauges, can I tell without any guages? how many cans will it take?
Thanks
I have a 1999 firbird

Re: A/C recharge
i hooked up an a/c gauge to the valve after running the a/c for a bit and it read right where it should be, but the air is just not as cold as i know it should be. It gets cold, and seems plenty cold if you put your hand right up to the vent, but by the time it hits my face it's just not very cold. So is it still safe to add refridgerant?

Re: A/C recharge
I looked under the hood and it said what type of refrigerant to use, but it only had the sytem pressure which was 1.5 lbs....So I bought an AC guage and hooked it up...When I first hooked it up it was in The Red zone 150lbs...Not running..Than I started it up and put it on MAX and it came down to the Green zone ( filled ) at 35 pounds and stayed there when running...I hope that is when you read it, when it's running. As soon as I shut it off it went right back up. I swear its not as cold as it should be, but it might just be me, or maybe I'm used to newer cars blowing colder....So I guess my question is, do you read the guage when it's running?

Re: A/C recharge
ya you can add some more... make sure air is coming out of all your vents, and give it a few minutes, sometimes it takes a little, close ur windows, and let ur air run for 5-10 minutes with door shut, then get in the car and see how it feels
