it happened to me not to long after i got mine. i was using a power washer. ummm....i took it to my friend and he used i think JB Weld to put it back together. just take it apart and see what broke. mine wasnt the handle where to turn the mirror, it was where the wire connected to the mirror.

When I bought my car it had the same problem-- the car lot I bought it from disassembled it from the lever end and epoxied one of the wires back into place. I haven't had a problem since. If I remember right, the lever controls three wires on the inside. One of mine was disconnected.

why were you using a power washer inside your car?

not inside his car. he was using it to wash the mirror on the outside of his car. then the mirror freaked out, and pointed to one side or the other, and couldn't be put back. it's because one of the cables that moves the mirror broke. the same thing happened to me, but i was just using windex on it.

A new switch from the dealer is not too expensive if you decide to go that route.
