yes it will work, get the universal kit though, not the 3800 specific as that is the grand prix one.

I have the universal kit from zzp in my car and it hooked right up

Is this the one that pumps more gas than the OE model?

yes it is a walbro high-flow one. It is the one that we all use when we look to mod our cars and need more fuel.

No tuning required for it though, just keeps flow up when you need it.

just as good or longer than the stocker unless you run your tank on E all the time and burn it up

              Cool.

My tank doesn't have an E. It has a 1/2way mark and a "better find some comfortable walking shoes" mark.

                Re: Fuel Pump ?

Well crap. I got the tank pulled (no, I didn't cut the hole...didn't want to cut and slash the back open) and it wasn't a big deal. Now that I have the cup and fuel pump out, I have no idea how mount the fuel pump. I saw the HOWTO on this site but the guy that hosts it has run out of bandwidth for the day and the site is offline. ARGH!

Anyone have any idea on how to mount the pump onto this type of setup? I've heard many of the gang have ditched their cups which would be fine. I doubt the Walbro pump I bought would fit into this anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm wanting to get this project completed today. Also, if you DO ditch the cup, where do you mount the sender level because mine mounts onto the side of the cup? I've got a 2000 3.8L Camaro. Thanks!

For reference, here's what my fuel pump looks like:

                  Re: Fuel Pump ?

Nevermind. I got it installed. It just takes a little extra work to get it to mount properly without instructions. I'm about to take it out for a spin.

I'm not sure why everyone says it's such a PITA to pull the tank. It took awhile to get it down because I'd never done it before but it took two hours to put it back together. It took longer to replace the stock fuel pump with the Walbro than it did to put the car back together. (shrug)

Knowing what I know now...I'd probably just cut the hole next time, though. Heh!

I'll post some pics of the replaced pump mounted in the cup a little later if someone wants to see the finished product.

If you ever want to take your pump out again with the trap door it takes 5-10 min. Trap door is the only way I do it.

Well I just didn't want to cut my car all up. I still don't regret pulling the tank and I tested it before I put everything back together. Now that I know what I'm doing with it, I could probably do it again within a few hours. I just don't want to have to do it again for a long time.

I didn't realize how easy it was to change out the panhard rods. Most of the rear end on these cars is easily serviceable. I've got a lot more confidence now that I took my time pulling the car down for this update. It was well worth the effort.

Why do you say that? It wasn't horrible pulling the tank. It wasn't as easy as cutting the crap outta your rear deck but I'm glad I don't have a gaping hole back there.

Go with the Walbro. It's a great pump. Consider replacing your fuel level sender while you are doing the pump. Those things are notorious for going bad and giving wrong indications. It's only about $60 or so and well worth doing since you are going to have the tank open anyway.
