  • Cleaning the IAC

Who has done this and how is it done. My throttle every once in a while gets stuck (when i push the clutch in) and i get what i call the "lingering RPM's". Supposedly the IAC can cause this, and even if not, i want to clean it anyway.

I know you use choke cleaner, beyond that, ive never done it. Thanks.

Disconnect the power, remove the IAC, spray some carb and choke cleaner on the plenum (don't spray it IN the sensor), wipe it off with a rag, reinstall.

If it's still behaving poorly, pick up another one, they're usually $30 or so at the parts store...

The IAC is across from the MAF and near the TPS on the throttle body.

The plenum of the IAC is what you need to clean. It's a little plunger looking thingy with a spring on it. DO NOT stretch it out. Just spray the carb/choke cleaner and dry it off with a rag.

Here's where the IAC is located:

I woudl reccomend electric parts cleaner its formulated a little better for cleaning sensors and such then carb cleaner, though its very similar. Just a suggestion if you have not bought anything yet.
