    Re: yet another problem...

    another update:

today i did a total Seafoam cleaning, including adding to crankcase oil, gas, and through the brake booster hose as described in the sticky thread. everything went as described but alas, hasn't solved my problem. filled up from 1/2 a tank today w/ premium octane and also and drove a little bit then replaced the fuel filter again. same problem though. so i had a 20 minute drive home tonight. when i was about 5 minutes drive away, I stopped the car and pulled the MAF sensor plug again. car wouldn't start with it unplugged, so I put it back in, started it, then unplugged it with the engine running. drove it around and my car behaved exactly as it did with or without the maf plugged in. So...does that pretty much rule out the MAF as the culprit? damn i'm frustrated...i just want it to be healthy again! aggh. looks like an expensive repair bill because i don't know what to do

Re: Ok lets go back to the square one.

I'd definately change the plugs & wires...could very well be causing your problems. I think generally the more miles a car has the shorter the time the plugs last.

well folks it is finally over. got fed up with ****ing around w/ it myself and took it into an autocenter. after checking pepboys and goodyear they wanted to charge 90 bucks just to diag the problem! so i took it to a locally owned place.

problems: broken wire on cylinder 5. Bad MAF and bad wiring to the MAF sensor.

service: replaced plugs & wires. new MAF sensor. wiring problem fixed.

Cost: $430 (this is including 6.75% sales tax i had to pay, which is ridiculous because i already paid tax on that money when I earned it!!). after refuelling with 92 octane i literally have like $50 in my checking. thankfully i have a good amount saved up in a money market...maybe time to liquidate that.

p.s.....why the heck wasn't my SES light going nuts? i know it got reset but if the problem persists why wouldnt it come back on?
