  • what kind of gains with...

ok my car is pretty much stock, is all i have is a v force muffler with dual tips, stuff i am getting put on is:

    slp CAI
    whisper lid
    k and n
LT1 stock catback w/dynomax bullit muffler in mid pipe and the lt1 stock muffler??
texas speed tune!! sending my pcm off(10-15hp they said)

will i notice good gains out of this, btw i just got zr1 chrome 9.5 rims and it feels like i have lost a little power?? is it just me or is this possible, also will i beable to edge out a 4.0 v6 mustang??

good gains, yes. the feel of power loss is expected because you put on larger wheels which takes more power to move. and yes you should beable to edge out a v6 mustang

Agreed. However I personaly wouldn't waste time on a stock LT1 catback. They are fairly restrictive. A good quality 2.5inch cat back like the magnaflow or B&B would REALLY compliment your other plans and work well as a system. I would also recomend a high flow cat. You should see some very nice gains from this to help offset the extra rotaional mass of the heavy wheels.

BTW, why would you want 2 mufflers on the system??

Also, there is no 4.0L V6 mustang.

^^^Yes there is, its the 2005. I believe Stock LT-1 systems are 2.75 inches, bigger than 2.5 inches. I dont know if it will flow better though just because of the added diameter.

Yep the 2005 v6 is a 4.0. The 2.75'' pipe will flow a little better than 2.5'' just don't keep the stock muffler.

the take off won't flow "better". Just because it CAN flow more doesn't mean that it will work better. Couple the fact that the 2.75 is uneeded with a restrictive muffler and he will see next to nothing over his own stock exhaust. The the whole confusing ordeal of adding yet another muffler to the mid pipe?

              Didn't think about the 05's.

WHo said that? The lighter the better and for dragging you want a nice sidewall, for example, a 16'' wheel with a 245/50/16 vs a 18'' wheels with a 245/45/18 with the same weight, the 16'' wheel will be better because it has more of a sidewall. Smaller wheels also normaly have more weight towards the center vs a bigger wheel.

Thats exactly why most drag wheels are 15 inches and light. Less rotational mass and more sidewall to bite into the track.

Wow learned something new everyday, I always though people would want more tread than sidewall... If thats the case then why do people invest on big slicks?

contact patch is not the same as sidewall depth. Wide means more contact with the surface, more sidewall mean that your aplying more pressure to the surface. Take a 70 serise tire and press down in the center of the tire (just the tire not a mounted tire) and it will press easy. Now take the same width 40 serise tire and do the same. You can't even press it in. Low deflection sidwalls are good for cornering, not for launching.

I guess you are talking the big stuff like a 33x18x15 or something like that? Sometimes you need that size to hook your car. Power, weight, gears and more go into picking a tire size.
