being a noob you'll learn that questions like this piss most off. everyone will tell you to just read and learn which is your best bet to getting into the 12s. you'll also learn that every car is different so one person can get into the 12s alot easier than others. you also learn from some people on this board that money wont get you their either. you need to know what your doing. enjoy
i looked at your profile and it doesnt seem to be very honest compaired to your noob question. might want to rethink that ;)

200 shot of n2o, you might not make it all the way down the track tho. If you have a auto trans, a good launch is gained from reving to 5000 rpm in neutral and dropping it in drive when the light goes green.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

go buy a trans am/formula/z28, because with all the money you will spend to get your 6 into the 12s, you could go get a LT1/LS1 and do a little work and your in the 12s. i know thats not the answer you want, but it just depends on how deep your pockets are.Black 1996 3.8 Firebird T5, SLP CAI, Pacesetter Ceramic Headers,160* t-stat, PCMforLess Tune, Flowmaster American Thunder catback, Car Sounds Cat, custom s-pipe, MSD coils and wires, NGK plugs, 3.42 posi rear, B&M Ripper, 245/50 BFG-G-force's

^^^ Then comes insurance and gas along with other things, Personally, I don't think that is a good choice. I would respect a v6 f body in the 12's a lot more than a 12 second lt1 or ls1.
I see this getting locked in the near future, you should do some searching and look thru the timeslips page.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

There is no discussion needed for something that has been talked about over and over again. This site is full of information and knowledge able people. It would be different if he said I have 98 a4 with intake, header back exhaust, 3.73's, lsd, 3000 stall, ported heads, comp cam, 100 shot, drag radials and a full suspension, what am I doing wrong or why can't I break the 12 second barrier?
Not just what will take to run 12's?2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

It takes a lot of reading and researching. All the info usually has been discussed and is only a search away instead of waiting for people to repeat themselves over and over.

I personally always search about whatever I am curious on before asking. Most of my answers are answered without me even having to post about it. There is a huge wealth of knowledge for everyone here to make their cars into whatever they want them to be.
People just need to put the work and research into it. Most people just want to be spoon fed and expect to have fast cars. Doesn't happen that way.

generally speaking:
n2o
drag radials
intake/exhaust (high flow cat and cat back)
fuel delivery upgrades
100hp+ shot of n2o on a good launch
cam/roller rocker's/head work would be useful, but not totally necessary
less weight
good driver
boost(turbo at least)
drag radials
intake/exhaust (high flow cat and cat back)
fuel delivery upgrades
decent volume turbo at moderate boost intercooled
cam/roller rocker's/head work would be useful, but not totally necessary
less weight
good driver
with that it should be attainable, but that is speaking generally, and you have to work out all the painful details. FI of some kind is the way to go for daily driven 12s. An NA 12 second v6 car might not be too drivable.
(NOTE: that's for a 3.8L, a 3.4L should be very similar, but will prolly need more modification)
