As some of you alreayd know I had this problem about a year ago and finally got it fixed over the summer for like 400 bucks. It worked perfect but since last month the security light gave me a problem once again. It turned on and the car wont start until i wait for about 5 mins for it to go off and then I can start the car. I noticed that this happened when I either left the door open while turning the ignition or doing it fast. It has happend to me twice and once to my brother. Does anyone know if my ignition is screwing up again or its just a safety feature on firebirds???

How old is your key? Inspect your key. If the resistor contacts are worn, get a new key cut.

I bet it is the resitor. My 90RS used to do the same thing. After it reads the wrong resistance, it will not allow the car to start for like 3 minutes i think it is. After that, if the resistance is ok, then it will work as normal.

well the keys are new and I checked it, everything is fine. That thing happened to me again today, it seems its getting more frequent, I am getting pissed off because I spent all that cash, it better not be anything serious.
What do mean by resistor?? I am not sure what part u are talking about. Thanks

I've read all of the security light posts here and found nothing new, its what I knew before and the fix was the same thing that I did over the summer. This thing happened to me again today, I guess everytime I try to turn the car on fast it does it, its really pissing me off. If anyone has any other ideas please tell me. The keys are clean and the ignition is new.

Sounds like another case of user error. You are probably not putting the key in all the way. This, overtime, would screw up the contacts inside of the ignition.
