your catback wont really add much of anything because your car isnt sucking in any more air than normal, so it doesnt have any extra air to push out, so a stock exhaust setup would do just fine.
I beg to differ. An engine is indeed like a lung and the more air in/out is in theory correct. However, coudl you explain to me why a header installation usually yields a 15% or so gain in HP with no other modifications? Simple, by increasing the volumetric efficiency of the engine from reducing the amount of force the piston needs to apply to the gasses on the exhaust stroke, the piston firing at that same moment will not need to work as hard to push the exhaust out. A well designed exhaust system will improve performance even if the intake is not increased, but too big of an exhaust can be detrimental because of the exhaust gasses slowing down too quickly and getting in it's own way(so to speak).
amen, Forced Firebird. my 2.5 inch pipe manifolds-back gave a little bit of umph to the low end, and picks up speed on the freeway easier. however, if u have a 3 inch catback with dual tips, you may actually lose a little power, cuz a 3.4 doesnt really have enough output to fill a 3 inch pipe and then split that and push it out of 2 3inch tips efficiently. what is his exhaust setup?? just a thought =))
dude, that chip made me run like a 4 banger, 1 week after install the engine was sputtering, and it was throwin codes like micky mantle
well i'm no expert, nor have I ever chipped my 94 camaro, but could it have been running crappy because the jet chip advanced timing and all that good stuff with weak fuel injectors or something? I mean if it's running just a tad on the lean side because of something like low fuel pressure, etc and you add a few degrees of advance could that cause it to sputter like a 4 banger?
so basically i'm saying maybe your car has a fuel system issue. someone more knowledgeable chime in here haha

Actually, those chips just aren't worth the box they come in. Ben at 60* tested several chips on a dyno from a couple of manufacturers and they all made ABSOLULTY no extra power. They all just changed gineric perameters, such as IAT values to "trick" the ECM into thinking the engine is running cooler than it is to provide more fuel, along with a few other things that you can accomplish yourself for free, such as TB coolant bypass etc. that really won't make any extra HP either.
In my experience just playing with Wire/plug combos I LOST Hp by using NGK plugs...my favorit was the AC-Delco standard. the 3.4 takes the same plug as a SBC and reacts nearly the same way...NGK is the worst plug to use...you should also bump your injector size if your gonna use all that intake/exhaust flow.

sorry but i doubt plugs are killing my car alone, injectors cost a boat load of money and i didn't think you needed them unless your pushin nos or a turbo?
yeah dude super old rofl..... but good news, i am slightly faster than my bro!... all it took was an aluminum d.s. and some headers hahahahahha....still nothin spectacular.... you know all this modding really doesn't do that much honestly.... unless u take into account the mpg i'm saving by upgrading most of this stuff (i could care less about gas). oh and i got the chip to "work" meaning that it needed to be plugged in better, however it still didn't make a noticeable difference so i yanked it and will prlly sell it or sumthin.
dude, headers have always been the most positve gain in hp imo for any 4th gen fbody. however, they can also be one of the hardest bolt ons...chances for leaks, no clearance to work, expensive parts, high labor costs unless u do it yourself. And did i notice a huge difference? no not really. I'm gonna be honest, all my mods added up should equal to roughly 35-40 hp easily but i can't tell much of a difference from the day i had my car stock. It's just not that much more power, especially when u do it gradually. I'm seriously flirting with forced induction cuz i'm sick of all these baby mods =)
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
