• Driver's side mirror broke sort of

I was cleaning my driver's side mirror and barely put any pressure on it and it just kind of broke. What I mean is, the mirror hangs far to the left now and cant be adjusted. I figured out a wire snapped out of its socket and I managed to get the whole adjusting mechanism out of the housing.

My question is, how much should I expect to be charged to fix this. Since I pulled out the mechanism, can I keep my old mirror housing and they can but a new mechanism inside, or will they make me buy a whole new mirror unit w/paint job. Who has had to fix this and how much did you have to pay?

i had some punk break mine just like yours so i went to a friend and he had another mirror. i jsut took the "guts" and mirror from the black mirror and put it into my mirror. very simple, if a junkyard one works, then use it...try the for sell ads in the other post spots. any more questions Ill be more than happy to answer

    good luck

mine did the same thing 2 years ago and I took it apart and used industrial strenght super glue to glue the ball back into the plastic. It has held for like a year and a half now with no trouble. hope this helps.

Well I went to the GM dealer and they wanted $125 for an unpainted mirror unit. No local auto stores had any availiable.

So I put gobs of superglue on the wire that snaped from the plastic and it holds good enough

Lesson learned: Dont put any pressure on the outside of the mirror or your asking for trouble

hope it works for you. if your glue ever gives out, take the unit off and JB WELD the glue back to it. JB WELD wont break, and will be stronger than the plastic it is attatched to.

                  junk yard

just go find one and your local junk yard thats in your color. Just be sure its the same year as you camaro. IE don't put a 95 mirror on an 98 camaro and vise a versa. Yes it will work but it won't line up properly and will look wrong. I have a 98 driver side rearview mirror on my 94 camaro and it just doesn't line up right and its driving me ****ing crazy because I hate looking at it and its not lined up properly. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Its happened to my 2002 twice, both repaired under warranty, still sucks though. I guess try the superglue thing if you can.
