• I turn the heat on...and it stays on too long!

It's starting to get chilly in the mornings up here, so I am using the heat now.

Turn it on, heat comes out. Turn it off, heat comes out (PROBLEM!). I can still feel the car getting warmer, and I can feel the heat coming out under the floor vent with my hand even after I shut it off. The car has been like this since I bought it 1.5 years ago w/ 82K on it. I now have 95K.

Do your cars do this? BTW, I set the temp all the way to red (heat), and use the floor vents. It does this in the summer time as well, even without me turning the heat on. At first I thought it was a way for the engine to get rid of excess heat, but I think something is wrong now. :(

What seems to work for me, is when I don't want it to get any hotter, turn it off, and turn the knob to the cold part. Works on my 96.

yup same here, same thing in cold position, colder air comes out. Just turn it off and to ac when you no longer want hot air.

I believe almost all GM automobiles do this. Our '95 Chevy truck, '96 Firebird, '96 Tahoe, '97 Sunfire, '99 Cavalier, and 2000 S10 all did this.

Not only does the air come out the floor vent, it also comes out of the windsheild defroster vent, and fogs up the window if you do't turn on the defroster

WHEW!! I'm glad this is a "normal" thing. Still, it's more of an nuisance than a helpful thing. When I want the heat off, I'll turn it off.

Damn, I wish I had climate control like my dad's 1999 3.0 Mercury Sable.
