    yep its confirmed #1 rod bearing is toast, what are my options now? new crank, have it ground down, another v6 motor?, ls1 swap??

      I wouldn't open that motor up. Just going to be a big can of worms that you don't want to deal with. The rod bearing is what you know about now, but after it's opened up who knows what else you will find.

      If you want to stick to a V6, go find a low milage one in the junk yard and put it in. I believe it is the most cost effective solution.

      LS1 is going to cost you big bucks.

        motor is already out of the car, almost to a bare block...

        and i'm thinking another v6 motor is the most cost effective as well...

          gettin another motor from another member on here.

          does anybody know what i could get for the rest of the old motor??
          its really just the top end, is good, crank is done and like i said #1 rod bearing done. maybe a parts motor???

                  car runs, goin to get it sunday pending new motor doesn't explode.

                  also the old motor is gonna be parted out if anyone needs anything.

                    got the car back sunday. runs good so far except for two small hicups. i'm not sure if its motor or trans related now, its just a small stutter under about 50% throttle, only happened twice, and can't get it to do it, just kinda random, oh well, i'll see what happens.
