sounds like your bench racing, you gotta understand that horsepower isnt "THE" deciding factor in who wins a race.

anyways, a torque converter(or an aftermarket one, rather) allows you to rev your engine higher while still braking- its basically like the clutch of automatics. aftermarket ones you'll see are named like 3000, 3500 or 4000 stalls, etc. that is the rpm they can safely go up to. your stock one is rated around a high 1k to 2k stall. so they dont add horsepower, they just allow you to get more power ready for launching, they however, do make your drag times faster.

back to your original question though, id suggest simple stuff like learning how to race in an automatic (brake stalling - holding the break while you rev up). and you should look into seafoaming your car. my vote is that your car would have a good winning chance in an ideal condition, but carbon deposits have definitely built all up in your car, and are probably robbing you of performance. here
is a good guide for that. its really cheap too, probably under $20.

good luck with your race, show that mustang whose boss :)

      Re: 96 rs vs 07 mustang v6

no i understand that its not all about the horsepower but i am saying just a couple quick adjusments for the time being. Over time i am looking to do alot with m car its just learning how to do all that stuff is the biggest thing. So i went to race him yesterday off a roll he had but only because i burnout from the wet surface then on a stand i had him pretty easily. But reall i want to make it so he cant think about touching me becasue he is one of those kids that thinks his mustang is the **** because it has tinted windows and aem intake and a dual cat back bassani exhasut. O also a big bass so he can act like the man when driving around. Other wise he pretty much pisses me off and i want to show him that camaros are and will always be the better car so sit down and take notes.

So anyway thank you for that seafoaming thing i printed out the whole explination and i am oging to do it this weekend. I am hoping though that i dont mess it up i just wish i knew someone that could help me with fixing my car up.
Also dose anyone know what that button 2nd gear start means becasue i have it but i really dont know wat it means?

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I had no idea about seafoam. thats pretty amazing, yet dangerous. The thing about the Mustang is its newer everything is going to run smoother. Just race him. I know I hate Losing to mustangs, but youll eventually lose a race. just have fun with it.

yea i know i will but its more then the race i want to make my car as fast and as nice as possible without really getting ridicuolous. Thats why i started this thread so people with many point of views can talk to me and help me with the struggle you know. My neighbor has a 69 camaro and i thinki might ask him to help me do all the stuff i want to do.
Question: Do i need a lift to put exhaust, headers, etc?

tell him racing from a roll isnt a race. and dont worry about seafoam, its pretty easy to do, i used to think i couldnt do it, but i did........ and second gear start is just what it says, it puts you in second gear instead of first for better traction when its raining.

ok cool, yea i know and half the time when we roll he shoots before the count is over so i cant catch up to him.
Anyway is there a specific gas when you fill up? Do you use high octane or do you just use regular?

What is your opinion on getting a supercharge for a v6 like where do you stande with that? Do you think it is worth it or na?
