  • replace oil pump

    Hi,
I have a problem with my oil pressure (drop to 0 at idle) so i want to try to replace my oil pump. I have bought an oil repair kit but i don't know if it's easy.

How i could unbolt the crankshaft pulley?

    Many thanks

crank pulley is the least of your issues if you want to replace your oil pump.
post up when your motor is sitting on an engine stand and im sure well be more than happy to help... cause there isnt much of a way around it.

you dont have to pull the motor, but it would make it easier. the tranny has to come down to get to it. its not something you should do yourself if youre not sure.

if you dont have oil pressure DO NOT DRIVE IT.

is it possible to drop the oil pan in a 4th gen v6 without jacking the motor up? im just wondering cause the motor is about the only thing i havent pulled in a 4th gen.

But i have seen on that site that i have to remove the crank pulley and front motor?
My engine make any noise or smoke and oil pressure is pretty good when i hit a little the gas.

Your gauge is not reading correctly. There is an automatic engine shutdown at 12psi.

              Re: replace oil pump

What year is your car? How much miles on the engine? Have you taken compression readings? What gauge are you reading the oil pressure from?

                Re: replace oil pump

it's a 99. It's the second guage on the left. I don't understand why when cold the pressure is 60 and warm in red.

The problem appear when we change the pressure sensor for a leak. We try with an other sensor but it's the same. I have a doubt about oil pump, the car has 55000 miles on the clock.

Are you sure about the shutdown? If there is a problem with the pressure my camshaft lifter should tick, no?

                  Re: replace oil pump

if the oil pressure is at 0 at the very least you'd have ticking, it'd be more like KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK BANG BANG BANG BOOM.

For me it's not possible to have an "0" oil pressure. A low pressure it's possible but 0...

                    The motor make any noise.

its gotta be the sending unit or the cluster itself

Does it could be the pressure regulator valve?
I have one with the oil pump repair kit but i need the filter adapter gasket.

                            Re: replace oil pump

Put an oil pressure gauge on it first . it's the cheapest way to see what your reading . It'll give you the true pressure reading
