Guestimating my rwhp...

Ya I know the only real way to know how much power I'm putting to the pavement is to either hit the track or the dyno but right now not in a position to do either (in school and BROKE!). So my car buddies keep asking me how many ponies I'm putting out with my mods and I really have no idea so could someone who has similar mods tell me what they put down? Here are my power mods:

SLP Loudmouth cat-back, whisper ram air, whisper lid, K&N filter, and a TB spacer/coolant block from ZZP. Soon I hope to have HPTuner's programmer and a new high flow cat. Anybody know what I should be making currently though? Thanks

180 at the most. probally more like 175ish

There is about a %15 loss of power from the engine to the wheels. The Z-28 camaros with the 5.7L 275 HP Engine put out 233HP at the wheels, so theoretically a stock a stock 3.8L Camaro would put out 170 HP at the wheels. So you are probably getting around 180-185

Was that 201 with a 5 speed or auto though??? 5 speeds just dyno higher. I'd guesstimate about 175rwhp on your auto.

lid filter SLP CAI and a SS muffler (stock from there forward) I did 174RWHP and 216RWTQ through my A4... Youre probably right around there, 180 at ABSOLUTE most.

heh I was never aware of a 275hp 5.7L Z28... 310 hp on the other hand...

Although Im not sure what that is at the wheels, most people that dyno stock usually get around 305 stock I believe, some people on here have it posted in their sigs Im going off that...

I know the 200 rated for our cars is bull**** though

The 93-97 Camaro/formula/trans am had the 275 HP (factory rating) LT1 engine in it. The 98-02 Camaro/formula/trans am had the 320 HP (factory rating) LS1 engine, in reality the ls1 engines were making 350 hp and the rating was lowered in the f-body because GM wouldnt want a car with the same power as the vette for 20K less.

i wouldn't call it overrated, i beat a lightly modded 3.0 200 bhp manual supra with my 3.8 200 bhp very lightly modded (flowmaster and cai) automatic firebird. we raced to 110 and by then i was 3 car lengths ahead.

You realize that the 200 hp rating for our cars is not at the wheels, yes?

I thought LT1s just had like 10 or 15 less like around 300, it's not that I "Didn't know they existed" so stop putting words in my mouth n00b. Your logic reverses itself for the LS1 so how do you explain that? ;) (See above posts)

The 200 hp rating is not bullsh** GM just rates hp at the flywheel. People just need to understand that as a point of comparison to other horsepower ratings.

I love how people point out what I already stated [img]smile.gif[/img] Do I hear an echo? You have your opinion and I have mine on how they rate their horsepower, however, and I'm not arguing semantics.
