  • Engine dies at stops

With the AC on full (hot here in Florida) the engine seems to want to die at stopping (and does) so I have to turn off the AC as I come to a stop. Any ideas why?

what is the rpm at idle with AC off and when you turn it on does it stutter or just die.

The rpm shows about 650 rpm as it always does. The engine does not studder, just dies....I see the rpm go straight to zero.
this is a 2000. I have a replacement AC compressor (Delco).

I can't pin point one thing it could be... maybe someone else can help you. Maybe your alternator is going bad or something. Not sure at all... good luck and let us know what it is when you find out.
