  • Buying a 98 bird

I'm going to be buying a red 98 bird with 48k on it this week. Has t-tops of course :D It's priced at $7495 with a 30 day warranty. This is going to be my first car (I'm turning 17 in 2 weeks), anything specific to look for? What are some common problems with the 98's? Thanks in advnace for your help. And btw, is that a good price?

Price isnt that bad for the year. 30 warranty means absolutely $hit, you have like a 1% chance of something going wrong in 30 days. you may want to shop around a little more for a better deal, more likely from a private seller, not a dealership.

My camaro is a 96, i bought it with 64,000 miles on it. No t-tops, 5-speed, cloth interior, almost mint condition body, and i got it for $4500 from a private seller. Blue book for my car now, with 70K miles on it, is still $6500.

As far as looking at the car, what options does it have? (Auto, Y87, leather, any mods?)

Once we know options, itll be easier to tell you what to look for.

I have not seen the car in person. I just know its the cheapest, hands down, in a 50 mile radius of me for the miles. I believe it has the Y87 package because it looks like it has the chrome rims from the picture. Everything came out ok on carfax. If it has the Y87 package, doesn't that mean it has different gears then regular birds?

Its red, t-tops, 47k miles, auto, chrome rims. I'd prefer stick, but I figured my first car should be auto cause I'd probably be too overwhelmed and distracted with a manual.
