• Battery or alternator?

My car will not start..tried jumping it and nothing. It sounds like it wants to turn over but fails. I have it hooked up to a battery charger and lights are bright in and out...without the charger the head lights wont even pop up? any suggestions on what i should be doing?

My car sits in a garage at work and I really havent had the chance to start in up like I usually do..I know this would be normal outside in the cold but also in a garage set at 70*?

    Any help would be great

If you couldn't even jump start it I would probably guess the battery. What I recommend, if you can get a ride, is to remove the battery and the alternator (if you know how) and have them tested. Auto Zone and Sears both test for free I believe.

What are you seeing on you car's voltage guage?

Actually, I had the battery on the charger all night. When i got into to work and tried to start it, she fired right up I think it was b/c i haven't been starting it up as frequent as I normally do i prob just lost charge.

I have A diehard battery that is about 1 1/2 yrs old and has a gaurentee to last 3 yrs or free...so worst case I get 1 for free.

but I will keep a close eye and start her a few more times today just to make sure she is holding up. Thanks

Intermittent not starting can also be cause by a bad starter/solenoid or bad connections/wires. On a ten year old car either is a real possibility.

The fact that it wouldn't turn over when you jumped it is puzzling if it was just because the battery was low.

i had a problem starting my car, for a while but after i took off all the terminals and cleaned all the corrosion off it started working fine, you might want to check them!

I started the car 3 times today w/o any issues.

it def was the battery cause b/f i charged it, my lights wouldn't even pop up. i really think it just needed a lil juice to get back in the game.

            Thanks God for battery chargers
