  • MAF And stalling

OK, I had my MAF die on me about 4 months ago or so. Well, it's acting up again. I don't have the exact code right in front of me at the moment, but it was something about low voltage to it or something. Anyways, now the car will stall out. It's just fine if it's cold and if I still have the transmission engaged. If I push the clutch in and hold it long enough for the RPMs do drop, they drop down to about 300, jump up to about 1200, then it dies completely. It doesn't matter which gear, what speed, or anything, just once the car warms up and I take all force off of it (by pushing in the clutch, or popping it out of gear). Any idea what's wrong? I got it scanned, and the only codes I got was the MAF one, and O2 sensor low voltage. All the low voltage stuff is making me think my alternator's dying, or I've got a bad ground/batter connection. Any comments, suggestions, theories on how to fix this?

Earlier today I did the whole seafoam treatment (oil, gas, brake booster, deep creep in TB, and I cleaned my MAF with rubbing alcohol) hoping maybe it'll help it out. Didn't :(. I was getting ready to put nitrous on this car, but not if it has problems, so I'd like to get them cleared up so I know I didn't waste my money on my kit :(

    Re: MAF And stalling

I posted on the other site about this, but now was wondering if the fuel filter and new gas fix your problem?

maybe a bad ground, probably the maf just dying. best way to find out would be to rent the good tool and and look at the behavior of the MAF. I dont know what it's supposed to be, so maybe someone could help me out but I DO know that voltage should increase as the throttle is opened b/c the wire is getting cooler. Check its behavior. If it intermittantly dies, probably a ground. If it dies altogether, it might either be the ground or the MAF is ligitimately dead.
