  • Maint. on Car I just bought?

Ok, I just bought a 1994 Firebird V6 (my first :D ) with 105,000 miles. Besides my hard starting issue which I hope will be corrected with a new fuel pressure regulator, what should I do to ensure the longevity of this car? I know that the person who had it before me didn't take that great care of it - at least not the body seeing all the nicks and scratches and couple dings...What can I do now to try and "make up" for any maintenance that should have been done that wasnt.
    So far:
    Oil Change
    New Spark Plugs
    New Fuel Filter
There appears to be a slight oil leak bcz when I was changing out the fuel filter I could see wet areas under the enigine area - not soaking but...It is hard to tell how much of a leak there is cuz when the guy sold it to me he decided to top off the fluids and overfilled the oil - hence the quick oil change!! So I don't know how much of the oil underneath is from it being overfilled? I was getting a couple of wet spots (two small ones) on the driveway when it was overfilled - before I realized that it was - but they have gotten smaller and may even have stopped.

I appreciate any and all suggestions  . I want to keep this car for the long haul - get a new paint job, new performance exhaust, t-top conversion, etc.

just keep up with regular fluid changes, tune ups and fix things when they break and you shouldnt have many problems.

dont beat on the car(racing, excessive speeding, etc) and it'll last you as long as you want.

wouldn't hurt to seafoam, get rid of 100,000 miles plus of carbon build up

i would add to the list air filter, pcv valve, and plug wires (plug wires are dirt cheap for the 3.4 at most parts places). besides that, pull the wheels off, inspect the brakes, grease any grease fittings and that about covers it unless you have an actual problem.

All of the above, plus flush the coolant system. Who knows if it was ever done?

makes sure cooling system is in good condition, check radiator and hoses and make sure they are strong and fit well.

Thermostat, keep an eye on your water temp.
